Eight Jobs You Can Accomplish With A Compact Excavator
In terms of landscaping, there is nothing better than the practicality and versatility of small excavators. With a range of accessories, you can turn your small excavator into a multi-purpose tool that enables you to perform tasks beyond its traditional role.
The hydraulic coupler system allows quick and efficient replacement of accessories. This quick change system makes small excavators a powerful integrated tool for landscapers.
Here are some of the things that a small excavator you might not have thought of:
Breaking concrete (demolition)
You can use a stone cutter, grinder or jackhammer to break small pieces of concrete, but if you plan to break large concrete, such as garden paths or retaining walls, you can rely on your small excavator.
For this job, you need a concrete crusher attachment such as a ripper or shredder. Hydraulic shredders add a lot of power to small excavators. It is rapidly comminuted by passing the pulverized stream through the jaws of the pulverizer.
The pulverizer is mainly used to demolish concrete structures. These accessories allow you to tear open lanes, old swimming pools, paths and old retaining walls to facilitate loading and cleaning, and reduce waste to smaller, more manageable blocks.
Compacted soil
There are many effective compaction equipment available, such as tamping rolls, smooth rolls, pneumatic rolls and vibrating rolls.
Alternatively, you can install the excavator using a plate compactor designed to compress the soil. You can also equip the compact soil with a spacer wheel attachment. These two accessories can compact the soil faster than manual compaction equipment.
Building retaining wall
Small excavators can be used to lay rock, paving slabs, logs and other heavy duty retaining walls.
Different attachments can break the rock into small pieces to fit the wall, and the claws can pick up and manipulate the logs. Once the wall is activated, the grader or bucket attachment can fill the soil back onto the wall.
If the retaining wall requires maintenance, use the attachment to deconstruct the wall to the desired location. Once the new piece is in place, you can use the excavator to rebuild the wall.
Placing fence posts and planting trees
You can use small excavators to plant trees and erect fences. If you want to install a fence post, pole or pier, you can equip the excavator with an auger. With this accessory, you can use a small excavator for precise digging.
One of the biggest advantages of using a small excavator with an auger is its maximum range. It can reach shrubs, fences and caves, and it can accurately position the auger without disturbing the surrounding area or the ground. Due to this range, small excavators can solve difficult work while driving on uneven ground.
The auger can dig holes of approximately 60 inches in depth. It can also use drills as small as 6" to 42", and operators can also use hex or round drills.
If you need to plant a lot of trees, such as replanting native vegetation areas, the auger on the mini excavator will make the task easier.
You can also equip excavators with cutting blades because these blade attachments allow you to cut fence posts by size. They can also be used to cut trees for easy removal or use as firewood.
grade
Turn your mini excavator into a useful grading device with your backfill blades. You can use it to reshape the terrain and adjust the work area to the desired height and shape. You can also use it to smooth slopes and shape ditches.
Use the tilting swing function on the excavator bucket to backfill the ditch, grading or leveling the terrain, as the tilting swing gives the bucket sufficient leverage to shape the contour and create a slope.
Mowing and cleaning
With a flail mower attachment, your mini excavator will excel in cleaning brushes and thick plant growth. It is also suitable for trimming large areas of grass, especially on slopes such as large drains or creeks.
To increase speed and efficiency, you can use small excavators to remove trees and large shrubs. Equipped with a grab or bucket attachment, cleaning is a breeze.
Grabs, three-tooth grabs or pick-ups with medium-sized buckets are best because they allow the excavator to pull, grab or drag the rooted bushes.
loading
It is common to see small excavators loading materials and debris onto dump trucks. You can add extendable arms to enhance their reach and connect fixtures for efficiency.
Use the thumb attachment to remove stumps, rocks and other items from the area, as the thumb attachment allows the excavator to run like a giant fixture and move heavy objects.
Always ensure that the attachment dimensions are correctly determined for the job and the excavator. Know your maximum arrival requirements and the load density you want to move.
Establish path and path
Another application where you can use a mini excavator is to develop trails.
For example, if you plan to create a bike path or a walking path on a property, you can use a small excavator. You can use its universal bucket with its grading blade to clear and contour tracks.
You can use it to clean, grade and apply fill material to prepare a path up to 5 feet wide. Mini excavators can precisely traject the trajectory, and can also engrave the path through the hills and add or remove slopes.
